Kalaburagi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced plans to set up branches of NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences) in Kalaburagi and Mysuru.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 371-bed state-of-the-art Jayadeva Cardiology Hospital in Kalaburagi, as part of the 10th anniversary of implementing Article 371(J) in Kalyana Karnataka.

In addition to the NIMHANS branches, the CM declared plans to establish a Diabetology unit in these locations.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that the new Jayadeva Cardiology Hospital in Kalaburagi must maintain higher standards than the existing Jayadeva hospitals in Bengaluru and Mysuru, which are known for their cleanliness and quality management. With this, patients from Kalyana Karnataka will no longer need to travel to Bengaluru for cardiac care, he added.

During the event, Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted key issues in his speech, to which the CM gave his nod. Siddaramaiah assured that the necessary steps would soon be taken to establish the NIMHANS and Diabetology units in Kalaburagi and Mysuru. He directed Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanprakash Patil, present on the stage, to expedite the decision-making process.

“Article 371(J) has enabled thousands of educated individuals from this region to secure good jobs. Our government is committed to the holistic development of Karnataka, including the Kalyana Karnataka region, with a comprehensive blueprint,” the CM stated.

He also assured measures to fill vacant posts in the region and introduce new courses in local universities. A decision on the compensation for damages under the Tur Dal Crop Package would be taken as soon as the relevant report is submitted, he added.

Funds for Anubhava Mantapa

Siddaramaiah confirmed that the construction of the Anubhava Mantapa is halfway complete, with the necessary funds already allocated. Additional funds will be provided if required, he assured.
