Vehicle movement on highway stopped
Manjeshwar: Vehicular movement along the Mangaluru-Kasaragod nation highway was affected near Talapady RTO checkpost after a gas tanker started leaking gas on Tuesday evening.
The gas tanker was transporting gas towards Kannur from Mangaluru when, at around 6:20 pm in the evening, the driver of the heavy vehicle noticed the gas leaking from the tank. Immediately, all vehicular movement along the highway was stopped as a precautionary measure. On getting information, Manjeshwar police and the fire personnel rushed to the location and helped in handling the traffic. Power supply to the area was stopped.
The gas was leaking from the tank outlet and hence to prevent any danger, the fire personnel kept pouring water on the tanker. Information was relayed to MRPL in Mangaluru and the situation continued till late into the night.
Traffic diverted
Vehicles were diverted through Talapady-Devipura route. Ullal police arrived to the location and assisted Manheshwar police in handling the traffic.
