Athani: A tanker filled with petrol toppled after the driver of the vehicle lost control near Jamboti road in Halyala village of Athani taluk on Sunday night. The petrol tanker belongs to S R Company and was plying from Mumbai to Bengaluru when the incident occurred along Jamboti road.

The impact sustained by the tanker as it toppled led to the petrol leaking onto the road. Taking advantage of the situation but not worrying about the danger of the situation, the villagers equipped themselves with cans and buckets and collected as much fuel as possible.

The tanker driver and owner are absconding. As a precautionary measure, power supply to the village was stopped.
