Target Ilyas murder: Five accused acquitted

A court in Mangaluru on Monday acquitted five individuals, accused of the murder of Target Ilyas

Target Ilyas, the leader of the notorious ‘Target Gang’ was murdered at his residence near Jeppu Kudpadi in 2018.

The acquitted individuals are Dawood, Muhammad Shamir alias Kadapara Shamir, Riaz, Namir Hanza, and Abdul Khader alias Jabtar from Ullal Dharmanagar.

The verdict was pronounced by Third District and Sessions Court Judge, Sandhya S after hearing the arguments presented. The accused were represented by their counsel, including Jinendra Kumar, Arvind Kumar K, B. Abhijit Jain, Vasudha B., and Anushree Hegde M.

Four other accused in the case, Umar Nawaf, Naushad, Mohammad Nasir, and Asgar Ali alias Ashraf are currently absconding and have not appeared before the court.
