Tata Passenger Electric Mobility launches its first Pure EV – Punch.ev

In a significant move towards sustainable mobility, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, introduced its first electric vehicle (EV) – the Punch.ev. This latest addition to the Tata.ev portfolio is based on the advanced Pure EV architecture, acti.ev.

The Punch.ev is a versatile electric SUV, designed with cutting-edge technology, environmental consciousness, and affordability in mind. It comes in three variants – Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, showcasing a classical SUV design. With an introductory price starting at INR 10.99 Lakh, the Punch.ev will be available across Tata Motors showrooms and authorized Tata.ev stores nationwide.

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, marked the launch as a historic milestone in India’s EV journey. He emphasized Tata’s commitment to accelerating EV adoption, transforming perceptions with innovative solutions.

Now with the launch of the Punch.ev, an SUV that goes beyond every day, we are taking our commitment to an all-new level by delivering a versatile EV that aligns with the evolving customer needs. It aims to catapult the Indian EV market, and leapfrog India into an era of pure EVs,” Chandra said.

The Punch.ev offers two battery pack options – 25 kWh with a range of 315 km and 35 kWh with a range of 421 km. It features two e-Drive options, promising an exceptional driving experience with zero emissions. The EV’s battery pack and motor are IP67 rated for protection, backed by an 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty.

Key features of the Punch.ev include smart charging indicators, bi-functional LEDs, and a digital-first in-cabin experience. The car integrates a 26cm high-definition infotainment display, a digital cockpit, and an illuminated logo on the steering wheel. The Phygital control panel combines physical and touch controls for an ergonomic and aesthetic feel.

The Punch.ev also boasts a connected car experience with ZConnect Connected Car Technology, offering smartwatch connectivity as standard. Features like wireless charging, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and an air purifier with AQI display enhance the driving experience. The SUV is equipped with Paddle Shifters, allowing Multi-Mode Regeneration and over-the-air software upgrades.

This innovative EV is built on Tata Motors’ acti.ev architecture, focusing on Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency. With this launch, Tata Motors aims to propel India into a new era of pure EVs, aligning with evolving customer needs.

The Punch.ev by Tata Motors boasts a range of innovative features, enhancing its appeal in the electric vehicle market:

  • Pricing: With an introductory price starting at INR 10.99 Lakh, the Punch.ev aims to offer a cost-effective option for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
  • Battery Options: The EV provides two battery pack options – 25 kWh with a range of 315 km and 35 kWh with a range of 421 km, catering to various customer use cases.
  • e-Drive Options: Equipped with a 60kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor and a 90kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor, offering a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 9.5 sec and an electronically limited top speed of 140 km/h.
  • IP67 Rated Protection: The battery pack and motor of the Punch.ev are IP67 rated, ensuring protection from dust and water. It comes with a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 km.
  • Charging Flexibility: The Punch.ev LR offers the option of a 3.3kW and a 7.2 kW AC fast charger for home or workplace installation. It also supports DC Fast Charging, allowing a fast charge from 10% to 80% in 56 minutes from a 50 kW DC fast charger.
  • Digital Design Approach: Led by a new digital design approach, the Punch.ev stands for being Innovative, Tech-Forward, and Aspirational, with smart lighting systems.
  • In-Cabin Technology: The EV offers a high-tech in-cabin experience with a 26cm high-definition infotainment display, a 26cm digital cockpit, and a Phygital control panel with physical and touch controls.
  • Connected Car Experience: The Punch.ev features ZConnect Connected Car Technology with smartwatch connectivity as standard. It also supports voice assistants like “Hey Tata,” Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
  • Enhanced Comfort and Well-being: The SUV prioritizes comfort with features like wireless charging, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated leatherette seats, an electric sunroof, mood lights, and an air purifier with AQI display.
  • Paddle Shifters and Multi-Mode Regeneration: The Punch.ev comes with Paddle Shifters enabling 4-level Multi-Mode Regeneration, enhancing driving control and efficiency.
  • acti.ev Architecture: The Punch.ev is the first product based on Tata Motors’ acti.ev architecture, focusing on Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency.
