Bengaluru: Transport Minister B Sriramulu on Thursday said that he has been granted an extension of one month to pay taxes by stage carriage and contract carriage vehicles.
In a tweet, he said, “Various associations of private bus owners had met me and requested me to postpone the last date of road tax payment as their businesses were in financial difficulty in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In view of the interests of the transport industry, the government has given one month to pay taxes on stage carriage and contract carriage vehicles, considering it as a special case.”
“The road tax that had to be paid before August 15 has been extended till September 15 and the road tax to be paid before September 15 has been extended to be paid without penalty till October 15. This will benefit about 40,000 bus owners,” the minister informed.
