Teacher arrested for assaulting student

Bengaluru: A mathematics teacher was arrested on Thursday for assaulting a Class 10 student. The incident happened at Narayana e-techno school situated at Vidyaranyapura on Wednesday. The incident came to light after a video of the lecturer beating the student with a duster went viral on internet.
The victim Shashank V, a class 10 student, was whipped by his maths teacher during summer vacation extra classes. As per Shashank’s parents and classmates, when the he was talking with one of his schoolmates, the teacher got furious and hit him with a duster. Following the complaint recorded by the parents, police arrested 32-year-old Venkatasubbaiah under Juvenile Justice Act and sent him to judicial custody. As per police authorities, they have booked the teacher on charges of deliberately causing hurt by perilous weapons or means.
A few parents also assembled near the school on Thursday morning in protest against the lecturer who hit the boy and furthermore against the school for directing classes during summer vacations.
