Mangaluru: A local court convicted a school teacher of sexually harassing minor students and sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

The Additional District and Sessions Court (POCSO FTSC-1) convicted Guruva Mogera alias Guruva MP (49) who originally resided in Hatyadka Arasinamakki Paddaibettu, Kalamundkur.

District and Sessions Court (POCSO FTSC-1) Judge D. Vinay conducted a comprehensive inquiry into the case and delivered the verdict.

The prosecution argued that he used to ask the students to come to a separate room in the school if they needed to leave or when they went to ask any doubts about the lesson and would sexually harass them. Several girls had complained to the school’s head teacher about this.

A female student was sexually harassed twice and a case was registered at the Mangalore Women’s Police Station based on her complaint.

Special public prosecutor Sahanadevi Boloor argued on behalf of the victim.
