Mangaluru: Team Mangalore, renowned for its unique Indian kites, is busy with its newest project – a colossal Kathakali-themed kite.
At a location near Hoigebail, close to Ashoknagar, a dedicated team of six is meticulously crafting a 12-foot wide and 38-foot long kite, expected to be completed shortly.
The team is using bamboo and high-quality ripstop nylon fabric imported from England, to ensure durability and finesse in its design.
Sarvesh Rao, the founder of Team Mangalore, informed Udayavani about the distinctive approach taken in crafting this masterpiece. “We have not applied any conventional paint for the big kite. Instead, applique embroidery technique has been used to give it a unique touch,” he said.
According to Rao, the final touches are being applied and the kite will be ready for experimental flight before its grand participation in the imminent Kite Festival in Telangana.
Moreover, Team Mangalore has received invites to showcase their creation at prestigious Kite Festivals in New Delhi and Gujarat in the upcoming days, he added.
