Mysuru: A software engineer killed his wife and daughter before attempting suicide, from which he survived. The deceased were identified as Savitha (39), Prajwal’s wife, and his daughter Sinchana (10). The incident came to light on Friday.
Prajwal and Savitha were both software engineer based in Bengaluru. When Prajwal lost his job and could not find another, Savitha also resigned and the family shifted to Mysuru. The job loss had resulted in constant fights between the couple and Prajwal was also mortified that he depended on his father, M. Ramachandra, for survival.
Therefore, he decided to kill his wife and child and end his life as well. On Wednesday, while they were having a fight, Prajwal killed Savitha by slitting her throat. Later, he brought his daughter home from his in-laws’ place, and killed her too. He spent the night with their bodies. On Thursday night, he decided to kill himself and bought a pesticide bottle for the purpose. But unable to drink it, he slit his throat and wrist. Later, he called his father and informed him about everything.
At around 1 am, Ramachandra rushed to his son’s aid and admitted Prajwal to Apollo Hospital. He also called the control room and informed the police, who reached the spot at 2:30 am. Senior police officers, including Commissioner of Police Subramanyeshwar Rao, visited the scene of crime. They said that Prajwal is out of danger and would remain in the ICU for the time being. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case.
