Techie turns chain-snatcher to clear loan

Bengaluru: A 35-year-old software engineer has been captured on charges of chain-snatching. The accused has been identified as Prabhakar, a resident of Parappana Agrahara and a native of Andhra Pradesh. 

As per police, the techie, who was under loss up to Rs 10 lakh after setting up an IT firm, attempted to clear the loss by stealing chains from lone ladies in the city. Amid one late such attempt, a police head constable, attached to the HSR station, arrested  Prabhakar. 

The accused is said to have robbed around 25 chains in South East and South divisions, including HSR Layout, Koramangala, Madiwala, Jayanagar, JP Nagar and other surrounding places. 

The techie has utilized same bike in every theft and the police managed to gather CCTV footage of the episodes alongside the make of the bike. Prabhakar mostly focused on elderly women or women walking alone on road. The accused would cover his face with a helmet and had gone on spree of snatching gold chains for the last few months. 

The techie claims to have cleared a portion of the loan by selling gold chains he robbed.
