Teenager drowns in a stone quarry at Adyar Padav

Mangaluru: A teenager drowned in a stone quarry near his residence at Adyar Padavu here on Sunday July 8th. The deceased has been identified as Tameem (13).

On Sunday around 5pm, Tameem along with his friends had gone for a swim. As he was swimming in the middle of the stone quarry, he lost control and started to drown. His friends in the vicinity tried to help him, but to no avail.

The fire and rescue team did rush to the spot but were unable to locate the victim’s body. However, the mortal remains of Tameem were recovered by the locals on Monday.

Following the incident, locals starting protesting, claiming that many illegal stone quarries were functioning in the region but the officials have failed to take any action against the quarries or its owners.
