Teenager rescued at Panambur beach by life guards

Mangaluru: A teenager was rescued from drowning by the alert life guards at Panambur Beach. The rescued youth has been identified as Vishwajith Sahu (18), son of Ravindra Sahu, a native of Kharikar dist Kolkata, West Bengal. The father is employed with Big Bag Food Ltd., a food bag manufacturing company at Ganjimat on the outskirts of the city.
According to Yatish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project the incident took place at 1.45 p.m. on Friday.
To ensure the safety of the beachgoers, Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project maintains a team of fulltime life guards. According to Yatish Baikampady, their team of life guards, comprising mainly of hardy Mogaveera community, have so far saved 300 lives since 2008 at Panambur, Someshwara and Kapu beaches.
