Telangana Gram Panchayat Elections to be Held in 3 Phases from January 7

Hyderabad: The Gram Panchayat elections in Telangana will be held in three phases, beginning January 7, State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy said here Tuesday.

The state election commission released the schedule for the elections, he told reporters. The first phase would begin on January 7 and end on January 21 and the second from January 11 to 25, while the third would begin on January 11 and conclude on January 30, he said.

He urged the voters in 12,732 gram panchayats and 1,13,170 wards to exercise their franchise and elect their representatives. The number of eligible voters is 1,49,52,058. Polling would be held from 7 AM to 1 PM, he said.
