Hyderabad: In a bizarre incident two men tied the nuptial knot at a ceremony in Joginath Gutta temple after getting high on their drinks.
The duo got acquainted at a toddy shop in Dumapalapet village and would often hang out together for drinks. Last month, both of them were ‘high’ after a couple of drinks and the man from Chandoor, an auto driver, tied a thali around the neck of the man from Jogipet. Later they went to their respective homes.
Last week, the man from Jogipet, who is unemployed and does odd jobs to make ends meet, suddenly visited the house of the auto driver. He told the auto driver’s parents about the marriage. When the parents were questioned, the auto driver said that they often met for drinks. He did not deny about the ‘wedding’.
Since the auto driver and his parents refused to let the Jogipet man enter their house, he approached the police to file a case.
However, they then decided to resolve the issue amicably. The Jogipet man reportedly said that he would not insist on living with the Chandoor man as a married couple if he was given Rs 1 lakh but then settled for Rs 10,000.
The duo got separated formally by their families.
