Haveri: A case has been booked against 40 persons, including temple committee members for organising the annual temple fair in Karjagi village here in violation of lockdown norms imposed to control spread of Covid 19.

Since thousands of people attend the annual 3-day Brahmalingeshwara Fair held here, the district deputy commissioner had denied permission for this year’s event. The decision was even conveyed to the temple committee members.

Despite the orders the temple commitee members went ahead and held the fest. A bullock cart race was organised on the third day of the annual fair and thousands gathered to see it.

Those assembled did not wear face masks or maintained social distance. A video of the race went viral on social media.

Haveri police booked a case against the offenders. Strict action will be taken against them.
