Temple elephant suffering from ill health; Tambula ritual to be conducted

Subrahmanya: The doctors have successfully continued the treatment being provided to the elephant belonging to Subrahmanya temple which has been suffering from ill-health. Although the elephant is responding to the given treatment, not much recovery has been observed. A problem has been identified in the urinary bladder of the elephant.

The elephant Yashasvi is taking rest inside a shed located near Injadi and is being treated by Dr Venkatachalapathy of the veterinary centre at Gutigaru. Since the elephant is not consuming food and also does not have proper bowel movement, it has created a sense of fear for the animal. The animal is being provided with, calcium, glucose and other essential nutrients continuously to keeps its body system in balance. During checkup, the doctors noted that there was an issue with the urinary bladder of the animal which is now being treated. The elephant has grown weak and exhausted.

Responding to the requests by the devotees to conduct a ritual to find out the cause of the ill-health, the administrative council of temple has decided to conduct Tambula ritual on Wednesday.

Strict watch

In the backdrop of the temple elephant being unhealthy, the administration council of the temple have maintained a strict watch on the animal with the president of the council Nityananda Mundodi , visiting the animal twice in a day, asking about the condition of its health and facilitating any requirements. On Tuesday evening, Mysuru veterinarian Dr Shrinivas arrived and treated the sick animal and took the elephant out of the shed.
