Temple priest, 8 others booked for holding ‘Rathothsav’ in violation of Covid guidelines

Chikkamagalur: A case has been booked against nine persons, including a priest for violation of Covid guidelines by organinsing a ‘Rathotsav’ yatra at Sakharayapattana, in Kadur taluk here.
The religious programme took place on January 17 despite the prohibitory orders issued by DC K.N. Ramesh on Sri Shakuna Raganathaswamy religious fare and ceremony of Rathotsav in view of Covid situation.
Several people had participated in the event.
Based on the complaint lodged by revenue inspector Jintendra, Sakharayapattana police on Wednesday booked a case against priest Krishna Bhat, Naveen, Varun, Reethu, Sandeep, Sachin, Ganesh, Ullas and Nithin.
All of them organised and facilitated the religious fare. The investigation is on.
