Temple town Udupi gets ready for Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Leelotsava celebrations

Udupi: The auspicious festivals of Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Sri Krishna Leelotsava (Vtlapindi) will be celebrated in Udupi on August 19 and August 20 respectively. The Sri Krishna Matha is all decked up with flowers and lighting decorations for the festivities.
As part of the celebrations special religious and cultural programs will be held at the renowned Sri Krishna Matha.
At the Sri Krishna Matha, the religious rituals will be led by the Paryaya Seer of the Sri Krishna Matha, Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Shripada. He will perform the Lakshatulasi Archane and Maha Puja.
Devotees are allowed to offer ‘Arghya’ at the Kanakana Kindi and in Vasant Mantapa. Devotees will also be allowed the Darshan of the deity as usual from morning till evening on both days of the festival, the temple authorities said.
Preparations are in full swing for the Shrikrishna Leelotsava (Vitlapindi) festival at the Carstreet on August 20. The main attraction will be the breaking of the earthen pots with curds hanging from the 13 triangular gurjis (structures) installed around the Carstreet.
Meanwhile, Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with zeal and devotion on August 18 in Dakshina Kannada and the neighboring Kasaragod district. ‘Mosaru Kudike’ celebrations will be held on August 19 (today).
