Mangaluru: Temporary and immediate relief of Rs 5,000 has been provided to the 6 victim families in the fire mishap that took place last week at Dhoomappa Compound in Pandeshwar.
The residents of Pandeshwar have crested two Whatsapp group through which they have collected money to be provided as assistance to the victims and thereby have exemplified humanity.
On behalf of the district administration, Mangaluru Tahsildar Guru Prasad and Village Accountant Avinash visited the location, inspected the damages and conducted the primary phase evaluation o the damage incurred. Accordingly, all the 6 victim families were provided with a temporary relief of Rs 5,000.
The second phase of the evaluation will be conducted in a couple of days post which, the district administration will take its decision on the final relief. Due to the election duty, there has been a bit of delay. If the house has been completely destroyed, there is opportunity to provide relief from Rs 95,000 to Rs 1 lakh, informed the Tahsildar to Udayavani.
In the fire mishap that took place at Dhoomappa Compound on March 23rd, houses of Shekhar Acharya, Kartikeyen-Sudaivan, Harish Govind, Srinivas and Prakash Acharya fell victim to the fire. The victims have taken temporary residence at the houses of their relatives, while repair work in underway at the houses that were damaged in the fire.
Local leaders have collected relief from the public through two Whatsapp groups and distributed it amongst the victim families. The collection of relief is still in progress.
Action to distribute the remaining compensation
“Already, a relief of Rs 5,000 has been provided to the 6 families whose homes were damaged due to the fire mishap. He second phase of evaluation of the incurred damages will be conducted and actin will be taken to distribute the remaining compensation. The second phase of evaluation will be conducted in a couple of days. There has been a little delay due to election duty. Altogether 6 houses have been damaged of which, 5 have been gutted,” informed Guru Prasad, Tahsildar
