Tempreture drops to a min of 17 degrees celcius in Karavali

Mangaluru: There is a considerable drop in temperature during the nights and dawn leading to a very chilly weather.

If the drop in temperatures in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi begins in the evening, it lasts till 9-10 am in the morning. There is a considerable difference in the maximum and minimum temperatures being recorded here. As per the weather department, there has been a close to 2 degrees drop in the maximum temperature in the district since a week. The lowest temperature in DK was registered at 17 degrees on Jan 3rd. This is 3.9 degrees lower than the normal fall in temperature, states the weather department.

The chill to stop after Jan 5th

As low pressure is getting created in Andamam sea is wearing off , it will give rise to a cloudy environment and hence the fall in temperature is expected to rise up after Jan 5th.

Severe cold in hinterlands

In the past 24 hours, the northern interior regions of Karnataka experienced severe cold while southern interior regions too reeled under cold weather. Bidar recorded minimum temperature of 7.2 degree, which was the lowest in the state. Meanwhile, Panambur here recorded 35.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday, which is highest in the entire country, adds the weather department.
