Tense situation at Talapady toll gate

Mangaluru: Ullal police resorted to a mild lathi-charge at Talapady toll gate on Wednesday, February 26 to disperse the mob gathered at the spot and facilitate smooth vehicular traffic.
As the bus owners have not been able to arrive at any resolution on the issue of toll charges, they have been dropping off commuters in front of the tollgate itself without taking them to the actual Talapady stop. However heeding to a symbolic protest by the public, the bus owners on Wednesday, between 7 am to 9 am, obliged and took them to the last stop without paying the toll.
Post 9 am the toll personnel disallowed the free movement and the bus operators were forced to stand in the queue thus missing the time schedule given by RTO. This led to the tense situation here disrupting traffic for more than an hour.
