Bengaluru: Earlier the BJP workers and Sangha outfit activists staged a jail bharo agitation across the state on Friday accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for making offensive statement by calling the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) and Hindu outfits’ terrorists. The jail bharo agitation became peaceful after a few arguments between the protesters and police officials.
The protestors were holding a board that said Naanu Ugragami, Nannannu Bhandisi (I am a terrorist, arrest me) raising slogans against the chief minister and the state.
Hundreds of BJP workers and Sangha activists demanded to be arrested as a part of jail bharo agitations.
In Mangaluru, the activists and BJP workers staged the jail bharo protest in front of Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee office at Kadri Mallikatte. Leaders like Monappa Bhandari, Vedavyas Kamat, Yogesh Bhat, Satyajit Suratkal, Roopa Bangera along with 86 others were detained by the police under the section 71 of Police act and later released them in a while.
In Chitradurga, the BJP workers began foiling the congress office at Onake Obavva circle. The police tried to calm down the situation.
