Bengaluru: In an unfortunate incident, a 31-year-old businessman lost his life while his wife was left with a fractured spine during a high-speed test drive of a Range Rover car on Tuesday, March 26 afternoon.

The man, Sagar, an interior decorator by profession wanted to purchase a Range Rover car and had booked a trial drive from a Jaguar showroom in Rupena Agrahara on Hosur Road. He along with his wife Sandhya,27, son Samarth,6, his business partner Gowtham and demo driver Shivakumar took the NICE Road for the test drive and were headed towards their home in Girinagar at around 2.35 pm when the accident occurred near Hoskerehalli toll booth.

Toll booth employees who witnessed the accident mentioned that it appeared that the car driver had lost control of the vehicle and ended up hitting the divider in order to avoid hitting the toll booth. Later the car hit the guard rails, and ploughed through a fence and fell 10 to 12 metres down an embankment, they said.

Fearing that the car may go up in flames anytime, the toll booth employees immediately rushed to rescue the accident victims.

While Samarth, Gowtham and Shivakumar escaped without injuries Sandhya suffered a fracture in her spine. Sagar, on the other hand, was not so lucky and was declared brought dead by the doctors. His body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for postmortem.

As per the police the car was being driven by Sagar and it seemed that no brakes had been applied since no tyre marks were left on the road prior to the crash.
