Mangaluru: ‘The Week’ journal has ranked St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru at 22 among the Best Science Colleges in India with composite score of 317. The college has been ranked 44 in Humanities stream with a composite score of 274.
At the state level, the college is ranked at 4 in the science stream. It has been maintaining the top ranking in ‘The Week-Hansa survey for best colleges in India’ consecutively for the last five years. It is worth noting that there are over 40,000 colleges in the country.
Various parameters like student teacher ratio, student quality, and infrastructure of the college, teachers’ qualification, placements and research among other parameters are considered for the ranking. It is based on both factual and perceptual score. The perceptual score is calculated based on the feedback given by academic experts, academic institutions of repute, recruiters, current and aspiring students while the factual score is calculated from the data obtained from the colleges.
The college is in the 100-150 band for its overall performance in the NIRF ranking conducted by MHRD, government of India and incidentally is the only college to feature in this category from Mangaluru, Udupi and Kodagu districts and one among the three colleges in the state.
