Theft at temples in twin districts; one arrested

Udupi: A person has been arrested by the District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) on Nov 28th for allegedly stealing from various temples in the twin districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. The nabbed accused is identified as Narasimharaju alias Raju 941), a resident of Doddaballapur.
The accused has been arrested in connection with the thefts that have occurred in Brahmavar Kilinje Sri Mahavishnu, Sri Mahalingeshwara temple, Karkala Ninjoor Guru Nityananda Bhajana Mandir, Shivapur Brahmabaidarkala Garodi and Karkala Ennehole Sri Ganesh Mandir.
With the arrest of the accused, the police have also seized goods worth Rs 2.7 lakh including 7 kg of silver from the accused. Previously, Raju is an accused for thefts at Bengaluru rural and Tumakuru. Additionally, he has stolen things from four temples in the district of Udupi and ten temples in the district of Dakshina Kannada. As he had repeatedly failed to appear in the court for 14 cases, an arrest warrant was issued.
The DCIB team which nabbed the accused was led by DCIB police inspector Sampat Kumar and personnel in an operation that was conducted under the guidance of T R Jaishankar, DySP of Udupi sub division police and Kumar Chandra, additional SP.
