Theft attempted at ATM in Attavar, one arrested

Mangaluru: A person tried to take away cash by breaking open the monitor unit of an ATM of Corporation Bank at Attavar near Mosarukudike Katte early morning on Thursday. However, the accused was soon caught by the Pandeshwar police ina swift operation. The arrested man has been identified as Jayaraj (44) from Thokkottu.
On Thursday morning, the accused sneaked into the ATM and tried to take away the cash forcefully and on failure, he came out and began to loiter around. He revealed that he was working as a painter during interrogation.
When the accused was busy with his attempt for robbery, a person from afar observed this antic and immediately alerted the police. As the police approached the ATM, they saw the accused simply loitering around near the ATM. However, the police took him into custody and put him under interrogation.
The CCTV footage captured at the ATM shows the accused entering the ATM with his face covered with a mask and then attempting to take the cash forcefully. The said footage had been collected by the he came out and began to loiter around. He revealed that he was working as a painter during interrogation. The operation was conducted under the leadership of police inspector Mohammed Sharif along with sub-inspector Manjula, and other staff.
