Theft in house in Udupi; cash, ornaments stolen

Udupi: Thieves struck at a house at Gundibail, Udupi and stole cash, gold jewellery and other items by breaking open the lock while the family members were sleeping next door on November 16 night.

The complainant Babu Acharya said that the theft took place in their old house and the family was sleeping in the new house built behind it. It is said that although the family cooks and stays in the old house during the day, the family sleeps in the new house.

Thieves stole gold and silver ornaments, cash found in the donation box placed in the puja room worth around Rs 3.7 lakh. They also have stolen the original documents relating to landed property of his elder brother, from the cupboard.

A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
