Theft of mobiles, car logos; five arrested

Mangaluru: Five persons including three mobile shop owners were arrested by the Mangaluru East police in connection with the theft of mobile phones of security personnel serving in various apartments and also logo of high end cars.
The police also seized six smart phones worth Rs 60,000, 11 logo of high-end cars worth Rs 20,000 and a two-wheeler used for committing the crime.
The arrested have been identified as students Vishal Nayak (18), Abhishek Poojary (18), mobile shop owners Abdul Sinan (35), Mohammed Savad (30), Sadakathulla (35) and the arrested have been remanded for judicial custody.
In the last six months, Vishal and Abhishek stole mobile phones of security personnel at apartments in Kadri, Urwa and Haripadavu. They used to then sell the stolen mobiles to shops in Dubai Bazar and Saibeen Complex.
The police arrested the students by checking the CCTV footage of the apartments, post which the students divulged the names of the shopkeepers to whom they sold their goods to.
