A temple, which had been inaugurated just two days prior, was robbed on Saturday night in Hunsur.

The Bannanthamma temple, built on the banks of Chikkahunsur Haleooru lake, was broken into by unidentified thieves.

They managed to break the lock of the temple door and make away with money, the taali (Mangalsutra)of the deity, and two lights that had been installed in the temple premises.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the priest arrived to perform the puja.

Upon further inspection, the priest discovered that the temple’s door had been forcibly opened, prompting him to inform the police immediately.

A case has been registered.
