Thieves who arrived by flights to rob homes in Bengaluru arrested

Bengaluru: Three persons who allegedly arrived in the city by flight only to break into dwellings in the city were arrested by the Banaswadi Police.

The trio from West Bengal, identified as Haridas Barai (37), Parhaldar alias Rakesh (32) ad Ratan Saha (52), was arrested on allegations of theft. As much as 745-gram gold jewelry worth Rs 38 lakh from them, police said.

The accused had a unique modus operandi. The trio arrived from West Bengal by flights to Bengaluru with the intention to rob houses. Once in the city, they would steal motorbikes. They recced locked houses for a couple of days during the daytime to see newspapers and milk packets lying on the doorsteps. They chose 2-3 houses and broke into them after ensuring the owners were not at home, police said.

The loot was sold to local jewelry shops in Bengaluru. After collecting cash the three accused left for West Bengal on trains, police added.

The accused were traced after a recent robbery in Banaswadi. CCTV and other evidence pointed towards Haridas who had been jailed earlier for theft in Delhi and Sikandrabads. Based on the evidence, Bengaluru police arrested the trio from their hideout in West Bengal.

Public Appeal:

The police issued an advisory to the public to cancel their newspaper and milk subscription when they are not at home for an extended duration. If possible, inform the nearest police station about your absence, East division police said.
