Thirthahalli: Leopard spotted close to human habitations in Tudki

Thirthahalli: For the past few days, the leopard has been spotted in the vicinity of Anandagiri hill in Tudki near the town, causing panic among locals.
In the vicinity of Anandagiri hill where the leopard has been spotted, there is a residential area including Morarji Residential School, ITI College, Tunga Mahavidyalaya First Grade College. The sudden appearance of the leopard has caused concern among the public.
As a precautionary measure, the forest department instructed the administration of Morarji Residential School in Anandagiri hills steps to be followed for children’s safety. Accordingly, the children of Morarji Residential School have been asked not to go to the playground. The children have been asked to stay indoors and in rooms of the building. The duration of the children’s prayer programme has also been changed.
There have been rising cases of wildlife entering human habitations of late. It may be recalled that about a month-and-a-half ago, a leopard was spotted in Theerthahalli town, Kuruvalli, and Tunganadi areas.
Precautions have been taken for the safety of children after locals spotted the leopard’s movement. The forest department has been informed about the movement of the leopard. Suchitra, principal of Morarji Residential School, said the forest department was keeping an eye on the environment around the school.
