Odd couple: This man’s strange love-relationship has a name “objectophilia”

When it comes to courtship and relationships, there are some strange oddities. One such oddity is Nathaniel and his love for Chase. By the way, Chase is not a human, but a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo car.

Nathaniel, 37, participated in a documentary in 2012 about his strange relationship with his automobile, which he nicknamed Chase.

He said that he and Chase were in love, that they spoke telepathically, that they had intercourse in a variety of positions, and that they even had a favourite song, REO Speedwagon’s “Can’t Fight This Feeling.”

Nathaniel, from Arkansas, had kept his relationship with Chase a secret until the documentary Objectophilia aired on TLC in 2012, when he revealed it to his friends, family, and the rest of the globe.

When Nathaniel first spotted Chase at a car dealership in 2005, he said it was love at first sight. The two quickly developed a romantic relationship, and things occasionally became physical.

“I’m in a serious relationship with my car. It was love at first sight,” he says. “His body and his interior and everything just together seemed to fit. I felt an instant connection.”

He doesn’t understand why he feels so strongly about Chase, but it doesn’t stop them from having a nice time together.

Nathaniel also goes into further detail about how he makes love to him.

“..We have our times where things get sexual. What we do most often is, I like to lean over his fender and across his hood and do little things like that and kind of press up against him and rub against him like that.”

“One of his more bold positions is for me to be underneath him. He really likes that. It’s really special to make love to Chase.”

He can also be seen in the documentary going under Chase and kissing his bumper.

The term “objectophilia” refers to a strong emotional or sexual attachment that people have to inanimate objects such as the Eiffel Tower, a Boeing 747, or, in this example, an automobile.
