Thottam Beach claims a engineering student’s life

Udupi: A picnic at Thottam beach for a student of a private engineering college in Bengaluru turned fatal after he drowned in the waters here on Tuesday March 20th. The deceased has been identified as Keerthan Simha (22), son of Narasimha from Tiptur near Tumakuru.
Around 30 students had arrived to Udupi in a bus and after visiting Krishna Math in the morning that reached Malpe seashore at about 3 pm in the afternoon.
On reaching the beach, the students ventured out into the water. The life guards on the beach warned the students of not venturing out into deep waters as the sea was being rough. However, the students chose to ignore the warnings.
A group of four students walked onto the banks of Thottam beach nearby and ventured into the water there. Soon, a huge wave washed away the four students. The life guards rushed to their rescue and fished out all four students on the verge of drowning. The students were then taken to the hospital but by then, Keerthan had breathed his last. The other students are recuperating.
The deceased has recently completed engineering and was awaiting the results. He had tagged along with his classmates and juniors on the picnic. The parents of the deceased student have ben informed of the incident by Malpe police.
