The annual Lakshadeepotsava festival of Lord Subrahmanya was celebrated as part of the grand Subrahmanya Panchasahasti Mahotsava. The procession of Lord Subrahmanya took place in a grand chariot adorned with five peaks.
The temple priests conducted the rituals. Along the road from the Rathabeedi to Kashikatte illuminated by earthen lamps, the devotees participated in a spectacular procession.
Earlier in the evening, a beautifully lit rangapooje (ceremony with lamps) took place in Adi Subrahmanya. Following that, a seed-sowing ritual using a mixture of soil and sand in 16 pots was performed at the main temple. After the grand puja, the outdoor celebrations commenced.
Amidst attractive rows of lamps, the Lord Subrahmanya deity’s procession, along with music and various instruments, began. After the outdoor celebrations, Lord Subrahmanya deity was placed on the chariot adorned with five peaks and was worshipped. The festival procession continued from the temple to Kashikatte.
It’s noteworthy that Lord Subrahmanya deity’s arrival at Kashikatte in the chariot adorned with five peaks happens only on the day of Lakshadeepotsava.
The Urulu Seve, a cherished tradition at the temple, began after the Chandramandala Rathotsava. Devotees voluntarily participate in this special service until the culmination of the Champashashti Maharatotsava.
Downpour in Subrahmanya/Mangaluru: Amidst the fervor of the Lakshadeepotsava celebration in the Subrahmanya precincts, heavy rainfall occurred on Tuesday night. Devotees continued singing bhajans amidst the rain.
