Thousands witness sacred Kaveri Theerthodbhava at Talacauvery

Kodagu: Amid the joyous chants of devotees, the holy Kaveri manifested at the Brahmagiri slopes in Talacauvery. At 7:40 AM during the Tula Lagna, the sacred river Kaveri appeared in the form of water rising from the Brahma Kundike. The temple priests performed the ritual sprinkling of the holy water on the assembled devotees.
Under the leadership of chief priest Prashanth Acharya, a group of priests conducted traditional rituals, offering prayers to Goddess Kaveri as she manifested in the form of sacred water. Thousands of devotees had gathered at the Kaveri temple, which was adorned with beautiful floral decorations.
At the temple’s annaprasada hall, devotees were served meals by the Kodagu Unification Committee. Several dignitaries, including district in-charge minister B. S. Suresh Babu, MLAs A.S. Ponnanna, Dr. Manthar Gowda, Sujaku Shalappa, and Dharmaraj Uthappa, chairman of the state’s Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee, participated in the event. Also in attendance were District Commissioner Venkat Raja, Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan, ASP Sundar Raj, and Additional DC Aishwarya.
The government enforced a strict ban on plastic bottles and containers at the event. Thousands of devotees, dressed in traditional attire, participated in the festivities. The traditional “Dudikottu Vaalaaga” (folk drum) performances added to the spiritual atmosphere at the Kaveri temple.
