Three boats sink off Malpe; NDRF team from M’luru leaves for Udupi

Mangaluru: Three fishing boats sunk in the Malpe here on Saturday night. The boats had set sail for fishing despite the heavy rainfall in the region.

All the crew members of the boats took refuge on a rock nearby. The loss to the boats is estimated to be in lakhs.

Coast Security police squad to rescued the stranded fishermen.

District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary instructed officials to deploy NDRF personnel deputed in Managaluru for rescue operations at Udupi on account of the heavy downpour there.

Water logging has been reported in many places at Udupi as rains continued to lash the district. Poojary directed officials to take necessary measures for neighbouring Kukkehalli region as well.
