Suratkal: Mangaluru police arrested three persons in connection with the moral policing incident at Mukka beach here.
The arrested have been identified as Sunil (40), Vasanth (42) and Sukeeth (23).
The victim, Abdul Rehman Bisirat in his complaint said that he was strolling on the beach in the company of a girl when the group allegedly confronted them. “They abused, manhandled, snatched our mobile phones, wallet and kept us in confinement till 10 pm. We were later released and sent with our lecturer,” he mentioned in the complaint lodged at Suratkal police station.
According to City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha, a case had been registered under stringent penal sections of IPC regarding the assault.
The rumours that two were assaulted are far from the truth. Strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours about the incident, Dr Harsha said.
