Three Tanzanian nationals imprisoned for overstaying

Mysuru: Three Tanzanian nationals were sentenced imprisonment for one month and fined Rs.8000 by the district IV Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC) court for overstaying in the country after expiry of their Visa.

As per section 14 of the Foreigners act, the ones who violate Visa conditions will be facing a jail term which may extend up to five years and will be liable to penalty. The prosecutors are identified as Atupele Friday Mwakyusa, Evance Damasi Mlay and Aidan Emilian Riwa. The documents related to their stay in the country were verified and were sentenced by the court.

Vijayanagar police found 3 Tanzanian nationals overstaying in their jurisdiction during the course of investigations and had submitted the details of the trio to the court when the City Crime Branch (CCB) had instructed local police stations to verify the details of all foreign nationals staying in the country and submit a report on those overstaying after Visa expiry.
