Thundershowers in coastal areas; Property damage reported

Mangaluru / Udupi / Kasaragod: Several parts of the Karavali coast witnessed thundershowers on Saturday evening.
Areas in Belthangadi, Puttur, Bantwal, Moddabidre, Mulki, Mangaluru, Panambur, Kinnigoli, and Mulki received rainfall at around 8 PM. Rainfall was also reported in Kasaragod and Udupi districts.
Thundershowers are forecasted for places along the coast during the next 24 hours, the Met Department has said.
Loss of property has been reported in Saturday’s rainfall. The roof of the house of Paliyamajalu Devasya of Noozibaltila village was blown away by the fast winds. The household items were drenched in the rain and damaged.
In Bantwal, lightning struck the house of Geeta Naik in Peraje, injuring her sons Sachin and Jeevan. The walls of the house developed cracks in the incident.
