Bengaluru: Hours after chief minister BS Yediyurappa said that a decision on the proposal to remove lessons on Tipu Sultan from history textbooks will be taken soon, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah alleged that BJP was always trying to distort history.

Speaking to reporters here in Bagalkote, Siddaramaiah said that only BJP has been saying that the erstwhile Mysuru ruler was a fanatic. “Tipu was not a fanatic, but BJP is,” he claimed.

“Tipu fought against the British. Isn’t it true?” he questioned and said that the move to remove history lessons on Tipu should not be done. Future generations must know what happened in history, he said
