Surathkal: Toll Gate Virodhi Samithi plan to stage a protest on August 14 and demand to shutdown the Surathkal toll gate.
The Virodhi Samithi members, also demanded completion of the service road from Nanthoor to Surathkal and a repair of the National Highway 66 here.
Addressing the media, Muneer Katipalla said, the authorities had earlier promised to stop the toll plaza at Surathkal once the Hejamady toll plaza was functional. However, it is more than six months that the toll plaza started operating, but the Surathkal toll continues to operate.
Katipalla said, “MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, during his recent inspection, had promised that the Surathkal plaza contract would not be renewed. The contract renewal, however, shows that the MP is in favour of the NHAI and its contractor,”
“An overbridge should be constructed at Nanthoor to solve the traffic congestion at the Circle,” he demanded.
