Toxic Foam from Bellandur Lake: NGT Asks Karnataka Govt to File Detailed Report by August 22

Bengaluru: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked Karnataka state government to submit a detailed report by Tuesday on present pollution level in Bellandur lake located in state capital. In a notice to the government on Thursday, NGT criticised for a steep rise in the level of toxic foam being spilled from the lake and directed the government to provide detailed information on the measures taken to prevent pollution in the lake and its surrounding areas.  

NGT served notice to the government as toxic foam waves hit nearby areas of the lake on Thursday once again creating chaos in the locality. The lake is in news for the sometime as effluents released by the nearby industrial units have been polluting the lake and its nearby areas creating flames, foam and others. Toxic foam, flames from the lake have already created panic among the locals and the matter had been discussed in number NGT hearings.
