Bantwal: In yet another case of police high-handedness, a biker was manhandled by the traffic police for not wearing a helmet at Melkar market in the taluk.
The policeman accused of manhandling the biker has been identified as ASI Balakrishna.
It is gathered that ASI Balakrishna had pulled up the youth for not wearing a helmet while riding the bike. An argument ensued between the two, following which the ASI manhandled the biker. A passerby recorded the entire incident and later posted it on social media.
In a video, that has now gone viral, the ASI can be seen holding and pulling the collar of the biker even as he is asking the traffic ASI to file a case against him.
Social media users have booed this act of the ASI.
Notably, this incident comes days after a youth sustained serious head injuries after a traffic police constable carelessly pulled the handle of his bike for not stopping when asked to during a routine vehicle inspection at Tekkate on NH 66.
