Mangaluru: While often we come across cases of cops issuing traffic tickets for parking vehicles in a no parking zone, a drive conducted by city traffic police on Wednesday, October 18 witnessed an altogether different scenario.
For a change, it was not the motorists, but building owners who had put up ‘no parking’ boards that had to face the music of the traffic police.
Following complaints from several motorists, during the weekly phone-in programme, regarding the ‘no parking’ boards placed in front of commercial complexes and apartments across the city, City Police Commissioner directed the traffic police to crack the whip on the errant. Not only 55 such ‘no parking’ boards were seized during the drive but notices were issued to the building owners and they were warned of strict action if they replaced the boards.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth, police personnel led by ACP Manjunath Shetty at Hampankatte, Clock Tower, Navabharath Circle, Bejai, Falnir and at Mallikatte.
