Traffic movement prohibited on Virajpet-Makutta road following landslides

Kodagu: District Commissioner of Kodagu, Annies Kanmani Joy has banned vehicular movements on the Virajpet-Makutta road following occurrences of landslides in the area on the early morning of Monday, August 5, due to heavy rains.

The DC visited the area early in the morning with officials of PWD and other government agencies and issued an order banning the movement of vehicles between Perumbadi and Makutta check posts till the road is repaired.

The road will be opened to the public after some temporary repair work. Later, action will be taken to permanently repair the roads. The district administration has requested the public to cooperate.

According to the locals, the road sank and developed cracks earlier today. Vehicles who noticed the crack alerted the district control room about the same
