Traffic norms violation on highway: 800 cases booked, Rs 1.25 lakh fined

Bantwal: Over 800 cases were registered and a a sum of Rs 1.25 lakh was collected as fine from offenders found violating traffic norms on national highway 75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru in an operation undertaken by the police on Tuesday February 26th.

The operation was conducted by a team do 22 police personnel led by the assistant superintendent of police Saidul Adavath. 80 vehicles were seized for moving without vehicle papers and insurance. Of them, 40 were left off after collecting the relevant fines while the remaining 40 are in the possession of the police.

Action was taking against two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets, vehicles not possessing insurance, fitness certificate and other relevant documents and thereby the police sent a strong message to erring vehicle users.

The operation which was conducted in and around Bantwal, Vittal, and surrounding places and station house officers of Bantwal, Beltangady and Vittal took part in the operation. Transport officer here Charan, town station house officer Prasanna, Melkar traffic sub-inspector Manjula K M, Vital station house officer Yallappa and other staffs participated in the operation.
