Mangaluru: Another major change has been introduced to the traffic system in the city of Mangaluru as the signal light system has been resumed at KPT Junction, one of the busiest junctions in the area.
The junction, which passes through National Highway 66, has been a major bottleneck, causing traffic congestion and accidents. A few years ago, there was a signal light system here, but it was stopped. Now, after a long hiatus, it has been restarted.
The new signalling system has been launched on a pilot basis. Currently, vehicles running directly on the highway are being allotted two minutes, while vehicles on the other side will be allotted one minute.
However, the reintroduction of the system has caused confusion among motorists. The traffic police are also present at the junction and are giving instructions to drivers. The police are hoping that the confusion will be resolved within a week and that traffic will flow smoothly and safely.
Although there may be some confusion initially, it is hoped that the system will help reduce traffic congestion and improve the safety of commuters.
