In a tragic incident on Monday evening, seven laborers lost their lives when a stack of sacks collapsed at the Rajaguru Food Process Unit in the Aliabad industrial area.
The victims, all hailing from Bihar, were working when the sacks fell, trapping them under the weight. The rescue operation managed to save one individual, but the fate of 6-7 more laborers remains uncertain.
The deceased have been identified as Kishana Kumar (20), Dalan Makhiya (40), Rajesh Mukhiya (25), Rambreez Mukhiya (29), Shambhu Mukhiya (26), Lukho Jadhav (45), and Rama Balak (52).
Responding to the tragic incident, Rajakishora Jain, the owner of the Rajaguru Food Process Unit, has announced compensation. He has pledged Rs 5 lakhs each to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs each for the injured workers. Despite this announcement, senior police officials clarified that the government would independently distribute compensation to the families of the deceased.
Rescue operations are still ongoing as authorities suspect 6-7 more laborers might be trapped under the sacks. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and has left the community in mourning.
