Mangaluru: Torrential rains in Sakleshpur and Hassan districts has caused landslide at a few places in Siribagilu area between Subrahmanya Road and Sakleshpur railway stations. Consequently, train movement along the stretch has been suspended.

Soon after the passage of Bengaluru – Mangaluru train and a goods train, the landslide occurred at Siribagilu section at around 7 am on Tuesday August 6. Immediately, all train movement along the route was suspended. Hence, the Bengaluru -Mangaluru afternoon train No. 16575 was held up at Hassan while the train No. 16516 from Mangaluru to Bengaluru was stopped on the route. However, it proceeded later towards it destination after an alternative route was provided.

Inundated railway track

Hence, the trains were again withheld on this route, said public relations officer of the department in a release issued on Tuesday night.

Train No. 16585 between Yeshwantpur and Mangaluru central did not move between Hassan and Mangaluru, while No. 16515 between Yeshwantpur and Karwar was cancelled.
